Majestic Roman relic, the Pont du Gard has been classified World Heritage monument by UNESCO in 1985. It was built between year 40 and 60 by the Romans to supply Nîmes with water. The bridge is actually a small part of the aqueduct (50 km long), which led water from the fountain of Eure near Uzès to Nîmes.
